Born with congenitally missing lateral incisors, Dr. Melmed has experienced first-hand the positive impact that dentistry can have on one’s quality of life and became passionate about dental esthetics at a young age.
Dr. Virginia Melmed received her D.D.S degree in 2004 from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Dentistry, where she was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for her academic and leadership excellence, and graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University in mathematics and chemistry.
Originally from Alabama, Dr. Melmed maintains dental practitioner licenses in Florida, California and Israel. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the America Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, and the Hillsborough County Dental Association. She is a historical member of the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Melmed spent time volunteering abroad at the Trudi Birger Dental Clinic through the organization Dental Volunteers for Israel (DVI). She has also provided volunteer treatment to victims of terror attacks through the ATZUM Tooth Fairy Fund.
In addition to volunteering, Dr. Melmed stays current with the latest advances in dentistry and attends numerous continuing education courses. She is a member of the Dawson Academy Dental Study Club and has received additional training at the Frank Spears Dental Institute in Arizona.
Dr. Melmed is a mother to three children-aged 4,5, and 6 years old. She is an active parent volunteer at Gorrie Elementary, where she serves as a vice-president of the PTA. In her free time, she enjoys running, gardening, and fishing with her husband and kids. She loves to travel and hopes to travel to Australia and New Zealand sometime soon.
